Carrie Ann Holiman Trexler passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2014. She was born July 22, 1948 in San Angelo, Texas. She was the third of four children born to the late Ralph E. and Ruth Winningham Holiman of Magnolia.
She was predeceased by her parents and one infant brother, Danny Joe Holiman.
She is survived by her husband, Charles William Trexler; two daughters, Charla Trexler Coleman Williams of Shreveport, La., and Staci Holiman Trexler of Magnolia; one brother, R. Evans Holiman Jr. and wife Mary Lou of Bossier City, La.; one sister, Janet Holiman Dickinson and the Honorable Justice Jess Dickinson of Madison, Miss.; five grandchildren, Maegan Cole and husband Aaron, Frank and Sarah Coleman, Grace and Gillian Williams, all of Shreveport; one great-granddaughter; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Carrie Ann, reared in Magnolia, was a lifetime member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She graduated from Magnolia High School in 1966 and attended Southern Arkansas University. Married for 47 years, Charles and Carrie met while she was a senior in high school and Charles was a sophomore at Southern Arkansas University. They lived most of their married life in Magnolia, with the exception of six years in Springdale where Charles began his employment with State Farm Insurance Company as a claims adjustor. While in Springdale, Carrie worked as an area sales manager for Dillards Department Stores.
After moving to Magnolia in 1974, where they began Charles’ career as a State Farm agent, Carrie Ann used her multi-tasking skills to run the home, raise the family, and do community service as well as to work with Charles at the insurance agency. She was a dance teacher, a Girl Scout leader, and a Red Cross swim instructor to hundreds of swimmers both young and old. She was a charter organizer of the Magnolia Dolphins Swim Team. Other community activities included Magnolia Junior Charity League, Magnolia Jaycettes, South Arkansas Youth Services “Friends of Youth,” Miss Magnolia Pageant Association, and her sorority Beta Sigma Phi.
Her hobbies included crochet, ceramics, candle wicking, home canning, cross stitching and flower gardening. An accomplished cook, she enjoyed experimenting with new recipes and tastes.
Carrie Ann loved her family and friends unconditionally. The consummate mother, she was a leader in her children’s activities and organizations. Those who met Carrie Ann knew they had found a friend. She always had a willing ear and a helping hand.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia.
A celebration service of her life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16 at Asbury United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Prescott, under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home of Magnolia.
Pallbearers will be Frank Coleman, Steve Crane, David Koehler, Randy Ray, Jim Treece, and Chase Trexler. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles and Carrie Ann’s nephews and nieces.
